Resolution To Support USDA and State Research Labs For Honey Bee Research

Attached is a copy of the resolution passed at our June 23, 2007 general meeting. At that time, we urged all CT Beekeepers to contact each member of the CT congressional delegation by both phone and email passing to them the contents of the resolution.

The House is considering a bill to increase honey bee research funding for several years, and the Senate already has one bill calling for increased funding for 10 years with a second bill in preparation. It is very important at this time for American beekeepers to contact their representatives in Washington to voice support for increased funding for honey bee research. Our current situation with CCD has put the honey bee in the news, so we need to strike whilst the issue is hot.

This is our best opportunity for favorable action by Congress.  Please review the documents below and contact your legislator.

The Resolution may be viewed here.

A list of Connecticut  representatives may be obtained here.

Welcome to the Connecticut Beekeepers Association.

Our Purpose:

To increase public awareness of the importance of honey bees for Connecticut agricultural crops and the environment. We are here to promote and support all beekeepers and their local organizations.  Our goal is to provide a common forum for the beekeepers of Connecticut to come together to share information and ideas.

Together we can:

  • Identify common problems facing beekeepers.
  • Share ideas and information about treatments for diseases and pests.
  • Increase public awareness of the benefits of consuming native honey and hive products.
  • Bring new people into the hobby and help to build Connecticut back into a major honey producing state.
  • Swap stories (or Tall tales and funny experiences) of past successes and failures.
  • Give you a voice with State and National representatives on issues that affect the industry.

Your Job: Give us feedback so that we represent your interests.
